Designed for a ten acre mini-ranch in the serene rolling hills of Marion County, Florida. This authentic Italian Villa was the forever home the couple ever wanted. Designer Dave Jenkins made the trip to Ocala with his favorite landscape architect, Pat Trefz, owner of Outside Productions International, a stellar Naples Florida based firm. since they were both keen to see where the home might best sit on the property.
Fortunately, the customers wanted the home at the rear of the property, bordering the woods where whitetail deer appear every evening. This would mean a 400’ drive, winding through giant oaks, a fantastic approach to the home. We envisioned the home to be broad and inviting, with triple sets of double French Doors across the front and a view through the same set of French Doors at the back, looking out onto the Lanai and beyond. A stair tower would balance the architecture on the right and appear quite a statement from the distant countryside access.
The large Bonus Room would serve as a space to sharpen one of the homeowner’s professional billiard skills, as well as their considerable talent with drawing and painting. The Bonus Room’s balcony overlooking the circular drive around a massive oak tree, was just for fun.
Most of our customers these days are looking for a Great Room style, open floor plan. The Parlor or Formal Living Room at the front and Kitchen, Family Room and a Nook gathering spaces at the rear, remind us of more traditional home designs. No matter though, all of the main rooms have direct access and views onto the two covered Lanai’s and the pool deck beyond. Even the Master Bath has access to a rear Lanai and pool deck since the clients will spend a lot of time enjoying their own private retreat.
