Mediterranean Style home Custom Home
This Mediterranean style home was named after the beautiful seaside town of Ponte Vedra Beach on Florida’s northeast coast. The home’s interiors shown is a modified version, but the bright & airy feel of the open great room floor plan is remains. As always, our homes are designed around the outdoor living and pool deck, a Florida staple that is now becoming expected by our customers virtually everywhere. Pocketing sliding glass doors disappear when open melding the Great Room and rear Lanai. The nook is surrounded by glass, making it feel a part of the extended living space.
The 10’ & 12’ ceilings with stepped and coffered treatments that rise higher and arched windows to 10’ in some rooms, the ever popular Mediterranean style home is very light.
The master suite has a large bay window and a walk-in closet that has room to share and a built-in for even more storage. Transom windows above the hanging space brings in tons of natural light. Like guest suite 2, the master even has a covered access to the outdoor living space.
Common to the Mediterranean exterior are barrel tile roofs, stucco facade, round tapered cast or limestone columns and decorative scuppers under gabled eaves. Though this design would be at home in Coral Gables , Florida, the roofs over the main body of the home are hips with trusses, common in coastal areas where more stringent building codes are necessary.
The Ponte Verde is a popular design which we’ve modified several times for semi-custom clients. The favorite change is to add room in the kitchen. We move the pantry to where the powder bath is, adding counter and cabinet space. The powder moves to where the full bath is adjacent the study with access off of the guest bed hallway.
