New Old Florida Style
We are grateful and proud of the fact that many of our builder customers return to us for custom home design for themselves and their family members. The Richland model is an example. The Orlando home was designed for the son of a trusted builder who’s constructed a number of designs over the years. Their young growing family needed much more room, but they like everyone else had a budget and size limit. The five bedroom, four bath home plus a loft and a theatre room was designed in just 3554 sq. ft., yet very cool features abound!
Due to lot constraints, the home would have to be two-story and we’d have to take up every inch available in the build-able width. The two-stories allowed a volume ceiling in the great room and the loft above takes in the view outside and into the public space below, just what the client wanted.
Also on the client’s wish list was a generous utility room accessible from both the master suite and the public space with a mud bench located just off the garage entry. Check, check and check!
Since the customer was very familiar with our home design, he selected many features that were “must haves.” A tandem garage for a golf cart proved necessary due to the community design guidelines limiting the garage vs living percentage at the front. The open floor plan and family gathering space at the kitchen, great room and nook is a foregone conclusion anymore! Another must have was the oversized island offering much additional storage and he wanted lots of closets!
The client also absolutely loves the look of our Islamorada model and even though it’s a very different floor plan, he asked I imitate the look with a much more modern spin. Kind of a “New-Old Florida” style that many of our customers are after. The home owner was thrilled with the result, so we are too!
